A Case Study on Metal Contamination in Water and Sediment near a Coal Thermal Power Plant on the Eastern Coast of Bangladesh

This study has evaluated the potential ecological risk and human health for contamination of nine elements (Cu, Cr, Mn, Zn, As, Pb, Co, Fe, Sr) in water sediment samples two seasons, i.e., before after rainy season, by calculating several pollution indices such as load index (PLI), (PER), target hazard quotient (THQ). Samples were analyzed elemental concentration using energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometry. found that waters Kutubdia channel are safe standard aquatic organisms. In addition, area’s sediments is still but moderately enriched with Zn Cu. The was observed to be high pre-monsoon season vice versa study. result also reveals no (PER < 4) site.
